Getting Started (Day 0)

I’m on a two-week grind to shock my body into submission. Since I’m going to be super busy for the next 3 to 4 weeks, it’s just as well that I’m doing this because frankly, I won’t have time to eat real food anyway. 😛

The Plan

I ordered a fairly well recommended and reviewed meal replacement shake from called Dexy Shake in banana flavor, along with a couple of BPA-free shakers with a blender ball. As a sidenote, the whole idea of a blender ball is super smart! You don’t waste any time with the real blender and the only cleanup is dropping the cup and ball into the dishwasher! Nice and easy. For a 2-week period, I’ll be consuming meal replacement shakes for breakfast and lunch, then for dinner, I’ll be having a combination of lean meats or seafood and vegetables. Lately I’ve been steaming just about everything, so that will likely continue. I’ll be keeping track of my intake and exercise as I have been for the last few weeks via MyFitnessPal (add me as a friend if you track your caloric intake as well!) and on FitID (so my trainer can keep me honest – you can friend me there too!)

This means that all of my deadly nemeses will be subject to my personal restraining order (stay at least 1 meter away from me!):

  • No alcohol
  • No fatty food or fatty snacks
  • No refined carbs (bread, etc)

What it does mean, however, is that I’m reintroducing dairy into my diet. The shakes can be made with either water or milk, so I’m going to take the opportunity to get my Vitamin D levels back into the green. As my trainer has told me in the past (and recently reminded me), losing weight is mostly diet with exercise to keep you toned as you lose the weight. So, I will be exercising — it works out actually because I’ll be working late & it’s less crowded at the gym after 20:00. Prior to my gym session, I’ll have some instant oatmeal and afterward, I’ll have a whey protein shake (I have this amazing 100% natural oats & whey from Optimum Nutrition — so tasty!)

I share this publicly because there’s no other way to keep yourself honest & to stay on the right momentum is to put it out into the Universe and let it support you in your goal. This may turn out to be much cheaper for me over this next 2 weeks, so I’m looking forward to that!

I won’t write every single day — maybe every couple days — but I will write on how I feel and my progress. I will be doing a before and after, just to have an idea of how much these actions impact me.

Sure, it’s the worst time of the year to do something like this, but what’s the point in waiting for a New Year’s resolution? That’s just balderdash (辞書).
