For Propriety Sake
I was watching CNN this morning and saw the report of people in Beijing that are being removed from their homes for sake of progress. They are trying to remove the parts of the city that are an “eyesore” just to show the world what they’ve got. It’s astounding to me that the government is able to do that, but in a system where the land in China is owned by the state, it makes it impossible for you to hold your own ground. You have no rights in essence. China will be under a ton of scrutiny with these historic games. I hope that the visitors to the country during this time frame do not forget China’s nature and the grip they have on the people. Freedoms don’t come cheap there, no matter how beautiful and “clean” the exterior.
