The Trials of Bankdom
Who knew how hard it was to switch banks! As part of this debt settlement program I have entered, I had to move some bank stuff around. What should have been a very quick thing, turned into a 3 week saga to get my money where it was supposed to be and obtain an ATM card. For the life of me, I don’t understand why it took so long for Wamu to give me an ATM card. What is so hard about it? Commerce can press a card right there AT the bank! And it takes them 2 weeks to get an ATM card to me? You KNOW they caught a lot of shit about that one… but I haven’t heard a peep about it yet. I do have the card now and all is right with Wamu. I hope they don’t bother me too much…. their online banking isn’t exactly the best I’ve seen, but it does what it’s supposed to do.
As for the new savings account for the program, I’m still dealing with them. It’s simply insane. I tell them, yes, I want an ATM card (since they offer it as an option) so that I can go to the ATMs and deposit my stuff if I need to easily. So tell me one thing… why in the world do I have to wait 30 minutes for a customer service person, only to have them tell me, no you didn’t order an ATM card and no you can’t do this or that. It took forever to set up a bank to bank transfer arrangement (which is SUPER easy at ING Direct – I would have done it there, but autodebiting from ING is a pain.), which someone could have simply told me, you can do it over the phone. Four calls and lots of annoyance later, I still don’t have an ATM card. Another 7 to 10 days.
*shakes head* The banking industry has a lot of fucking work to do.
