Ночной Дозор (Night Watch)

For all that this movie from Russia presents in the previews, this supposed highest grossing movie in the country, it was a sore disappointment. Granted, there were some good FX scenes and a bit of gore, but the plot was all over the place. I had the hardest time keeping track of everything that was going on. It was plothole city, if the plot was actually there.

I would love to say it was the translations and some kind of language barrier, but I’m afraid it just wasn’t so. To think, this movie was going to be released (and still may be) in the US!!! I implore you, do not waste your $10 in the movies for this film. If you do watch it, get it on DVD instead.

The bottom line plot: Old battle from centuries ago between light and dark resurfaces as an agreement between the two is broken. The main guy Anton is drawn into the battle and faces a vampire and a vampiress, some bad omen woman and a child that has to choose between the two sides.

Coolest part: Beginning of the movie with the witch that tries to kill the fetus in Anton’s woman… someone comes in and a tiger jumps on the witch out of nowhere to stop her from clapping her hands. It’s wild, the shapeshifting thing…
