At The Movies: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
If you have never had the pleasure of reading Douglas Adam’s book, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, then you’ve missed out on a lot of frivilous fun. The movie is a great creation based on this book. Arthur Dent (Martin Freeman) finds himself in a pickle when his friend Ford (Mos Def) saves him from certain death as Earth is about to be demolished. I liked the pace of the movie and its lighthearted demeanor. Being British certainly helps too! Most notable is the narrator of the story and the actual illustrations of the guide. VERY cool and VERY funny! ^_^
All in all, laughs all around and pretty good special FX. One thing I must say, Disney knew who their market was because when they put the trailers out, the movie theater was PACKED with kids. That was the last thing I expected, but hey, I’m not in marketing. I dunno about it being DVD-worthy though. It was the kind of movie that I’d like to watch every once in a while.
